If successful the result would be massive savings by cleaning instead of replacing carpets on their Boeing Long Haul aircraft.
Over the next 12 months Crawford’s Cleaning Services Ltd worked very closely with BA to develop a system that would meet the strict requirements of the aviation standards. During this period, Crawford’s invested heavily in new technology and solutions to continue the improvement of the processes so that they are environmentally friendly, using less water through recycling.
The first aircraft was trialled in May 2009 and proved successful under the watchful eye of BA senior management in Cardiff. Since then we have improved the process so that it takes 8 technicians 4 hours to complete a Boeing 747, the largest of the aircraft. This is an improvement on the original trial which took over 8 hours. The cleaning process is now so efficient that the ground crew can continue working in the morning without disruption as all the carpets are dried using our specialist techniques.
On average Crawford’s Cleaning Services complete over 40 aircraft per annum and through continual development and training remain at the cutting edge of aircraft carpet maintenance.
